Baby shoes

I was looking for a Christmas present for the new baby in our family (well, in my sister's fiancĂ©'s family actually).
On Martha Stewart's site, I found the idea of making baby shoes out of felt. They looked so qute and possible to hand sew. Which turned out to be quite a job, but I am satisfied with the result.
Hope little Elia will not grow out of them to quick.

Advent calendar

This advent calendar is made from match boxes.

Saint Nicolas

Saint Nicolas is a big party for our family. Partly because my Grandfather's birthday is 2 days before, but then I believe anyone from Holland sees it as a tradition. So we all get together and have present for everyone. Mainly for the kids, but everyone gets something from the generous 'Sinterklaas'.
This year I wanted to make the usual treats myself, instead of buying them at the bakery.
So I baked a 'Speculaastaart' which is speculous spiced dough with a grounded almond filling.
I also made the traditional 'Pepernoten', which are made from almost the same ingredients as the dough for the pie. After I covered them with Cocolate. Unfortunately I didnt make any picture of those.

I also home made marzipan. It is tradition to serve this is shapes of fruit or anything related to the person you are giving it to. The first two pictures are 'Plonsters' (this is a cartoon like show on the Dutch tv but all made out of clay). My nephews who really like watching this. Then ofcourse I made some fruits and a snow man.

Easter Cake

I made this cake for Easter so that has been a while, but I really love it so I am posting it anyway. The idea is from Martha Stewart and the taste is just amazing.
The eggs, nest, topping, cake and filling are all with chocolate, my favorite sweet (you could say I am addicted to it).
If you would like to get the recipe, please let me know and I will send it to you.
